looking for some answers to long standing questions concerning family history

during the civil war, my great great grandfather, william ware, who came from union town pa, was in the union army, he later was transferred to New Mexico, and married my great great grandmother, he later left her , with 7 children to raise on her own. I had heard he had a seperate family, in Penn later, of which one girl, was to become a silent movie star. I was just wondering, if the family of william ware, still exists? and if they knew they had family still existing in colorado, texas, and other various parts of the USA, I know that I saw his photo, from a civil war  pic, which my great grandmother had(flora ware Duran) when i was a child. she was always proud of her father being in the civil war. if you have knowledge, or where i can get some kind of info on the ware family, it would be appreciated...thank you.

Bill, you could try talking to Vicki Leonelli at the Uniontown Library. She is a genealogist and has written a few books about the area.

Bill, this is a good read. Since you want to locate military family. How To Locate Anyone Who Is or Has Been In The Military by Lt. Col. Richard S. Johnson. It's a great resource. Post some messages on ancestry or genealogy.com. Janet
