Yes, I did get your email and I passed it on to my mom. She probably emailed you back by now. I am behind on writing back. Sorry. If you need anything else you can let me know.
Hello Everyone,
My genealogy research is based on Joseph and Mary Simon who came to America from Syria in the late 1800's. I've been trying to piece together a picture of where the siblings went, their jobs and their families up to present day. Some have moved away from Uniontown. The census only lets me look back to 75 years ago and before as to protect peoples privacy in present day. As you can assume, getting info from Syria is difficult with war in the area. However, there are more people from Syria posting today than three years ago. I've realized that the Simon name originally was Slimon or Solomon, not certain of the exact spelling, but will work on that. The name was changed as Mary & Joseph entered Ellis Island. I'm beginning to zero in on the location in Syria where the family originated from. Need to do more research, which takes time. I've been very successful with my family history, but the Simon side of my husbands family has proven to be a challenge. Now, I've exhausted all means short of asking living relatives for any info tidbits that can give me more leads. I thought Uniontown would be a good place to start. Hoping some related Simon's still reside there. Thanks so much for inquiring. Whatever I have gained I will compile info and eventually share and add onto as time goes by. Any living elderly relatives is a good place to start asking questions about their past and what they heard about family history growing up. My father in-law is Harry Simon. He's 85 and feeble. The memory is getting weak. When growing up he didn't ask a lot of questions about his ancestry. Would love to hear from you. My email deesimon@mac.com. Thank you so much!!!
